Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel process to pattern a physiologically active substance like protein or the like or a functional organic material in a relatively easy treatment operation on a substrate while retaining their activities and to provide an apparatus used for it. SOLUTION: In this process, a material dispersible in a fluid is fixed on a substrate according to a given pattern. A sheet material 14 having two or more pores 16 formed according to the given pattern is stuck to a substrate 10. Then, the fluid-dispersible material is fixed on the substrate surface exposed to the bottom of the pores by introducing a fluid containing the fluid-dispersible material from the openings of the pores on the upper face of the sheet material into the pores. A micro passage can be formed for each pore and various fluid-dispersible materials can be selectively fixed only on a surface area of the substrate formed according to the given pattern.
