Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structurally simple, small and lightweight reciprocating pump 21; and to provide a constitutionally simple, small and maintenance-inspection easy high pressure generator with the vacuum generating function. SOLUTION: This reciprocating pump 21 has a composite valve mechanism 35 commonly incorporated with a suction valve 71 and a delivery valve 51 for sucking and delivering gas in one side space 45 of a piston 25 in a cylinder 24. A valve block 37 of the composite valve mechanism 35 has a first through-hole 41 incorporated with the suction valve 71, and a second through-hole 42 crossing with this first through-hole 41, and incorporated with the delivery valve 51.
