Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform highly accurate grinding by sufficiently suppressing the level of heat generation which causes grinding defects. SOLUTION: The grinding wheel device has a roll-shaped grinding wheel 1, which grinds the surface of a belt 5 while rotating, and a wheel shaft 2, which is penetratingly provided to one end side of the grinding wheel 1 and supports the grinding wheel 1 rotatably. The grinding wheel device also has a rotary joint 3, which is freely rotatably provided to the other end part of the wheel shaft 2, and is provided with: an inlet 33 and an outlet 34 for antifreeze; a temperature adjusting flow passage 11, which has a larger flow passage area than the inlet 33 and the outlet 34 of the rotary joint 3 and is formed so as to cool the entire peripheral face of the grinding wheel 1 by the antifreeze supplied/discharged through the inlet 33 and the outlet 34; and water pipes 14, 15.
