Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery containing a separator material capable of realizing the secondary battery with excellent high temperature cycle property and high energy density and to provide a manufacturing method for the secondary battery. SOLUTION: A separator is evaluated and sorted by pyrolysis gas chromatography (thermal-decomposition +GC/MS method). In a suitable separator, the value of (area value of peak 1 indicating 1-Decene)/(area value of peak 2 indicating 1-Octene) of the total ion chromatogram (TIC) of a thermal-decomposition product of the separator is 2.05 or less. More preferably, one in which the value of (area value of peak 1)/(area value of peak 2) is 2.00 or less, (area value of peak 1)/(1-area value of peak 3 indicating Nonene) is 1.87 or less and (area value of peak 3)/(area value of peak 2) is 1.05 or less is selected and used as the separator.
