Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of generating electricity by gasifying a fuel in a composite fluidized bed furnace partitioned by a partition wall into a gasifying furnace and an oxidizing furnace and operated under a high pressure of not lower than atmospheric pressure. SOLUTION: The method of generating electricity comprises; supplying the fuel to the gasifying furnace 207 of the composite fluidized bed furnace 201; gasifying the supplied fuel in the gasifying furnace 207 to produce a gas and a char; discharging the gas produced in the gasifying furnace 207, cooling the gas by a cooling unit 254 and removing dust by a dust collecting unit 255; supplying the char produced in the gasifying furnace 207 as well as the fluidizing medium from the gasifying furnace 207 to the oxidizing furnace 208 of the composite fluidized bed furnace 201 via a communication opening of the partition wall 8; burning the supplied char in the oxidizing furnace 208; discharging the combustion gas produced in the oxidizing furnace 208, cooling the gas by a cooling unit 256 and removing the dust by a dust collecting unit 257; mixing the produced gas and the combustion gas both being cooled and dust-removed and burning the mixed gas in a combustor 258; and supplying the high temperature combustion gas to a gas turbine 261.
