PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for retrieving documents, which enables a user to accurately retrieve the document, using a retrieval condition to be automatically reset by a user simple instruction, even when the result for retrieving the document does not satisfy the user. SOLUTION: The device 100 for retrieving the documents comprising an identifying unit 301 for identifying an original document; a document-selecting unit 302 for selecting one or more quasi-documents from a document database 303A, after a retrieval condition is set for retrieving the quasi-document similar to the original document being specified; a quasi-document output unit 304 for displaying the quasi-document being specified, which is selected from among the quasi-documents being selected; and a document switch instructing unit 305 for specifying whether one or more quasi-documents can be reselected, by switching a display for the quasi-document from the current one to the next display for the quasi-document, or by retrieving the document from the document database 303A, after the retrieval condition has been reset by the document selecting unit 302.
