Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk unit which is free from the damage and runaway of a magnetic head due to the ruggedness on a surface and lack of a servo signal in a loading/unloading zone. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk unit equipped with a loading/unloading mechanism for loading/unloading the magnetic head slider 2 to and from a magnetic disk 3 provided with a loading/unloading zone 12 of a prescribed length in a circumferential direction is recorded with a specific command and pattern 14 forward in the circumferential direction of the loading/unloading zone of the magnetic disk. When a controller reads out the recorded specific command, the controller moves the magnetic head slider to a track on an inner peripheral side so as to evade the loading/unloading zone. In reading/writing the data of the track existing within the same radius as the radius of the loading/unloading zone, the controller returns the magnetic head slider again to the above track.
