PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a search system which lessens noise components superimposed upon a search signal, by suppressing electromagnetic waves directly spread on a receiving antenna object from a transmitting antenna object. SOLUTION: The search syastem is equipped with the transmitting antenna object which transmits electromagnetic waves to a piping 15, a receiving antenna object which receives reflective electromagnetic waves from an object to be detected, and the signal processing means for processing the received signal of the receiving antenna object and generating search signals. The transmitting antenna object 8 (and/or the receiving antenna object 10) is provided with an antenna housing 26 with one open surface, and an antenna substrate 42 which has an antenna element. In the opening of the antenna housing 26, a stepped part 40 is formed in a recess shape, and the antenna board 42 is accommodated in this stepped part 40. The direct wave from the transmitting antenna object 8 is blocked off by the side wall of the antenna housing 26, thereby lessening the noise components caused by direct waves.
