PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for operating a combustion engine of, in particular, a vehicle for preventing change of an output value of the combustion engine under a specific operation condition. SOLUTION: In this method for operating the combustion engine 1, an output value of the combustion engine 1 is adjusted in a region determined in advance. At least a part of the region determined in advance to adjust the output value depends on at least one operation condition of the combustion engine 1 and is prevented. The device 5 for operating the combustion engine 1 is provided with a means 10 for limiting the output value of the combustion engine 1 to the region determined in advance and means 15, 20 for letting at least a part of the region determined in advance to adjust the output value depend on at least one operation condition and preventing it.
