Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent electric charges charged to a dummy electrode from discharging between it and an adjacent electrode, in a liquid crystal display element having the dummy electrode to control a gap in a non-display part. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element comprises: a pair of transparent electrode substrates crimped to each other via a peripheral sealing material; a display part A having a common electrode 10 and a segment electrode 20, a non-display part B having leading wires 11, 21 of the respective electrodes 10, 20 formed thereon and not contributing to the display included in a panel surface surrounded by the peripheral sealing material; and having a number of dummy electrodes 30a with thickness nearly equal to that of the respective electrodes 10, 20 not in contact with one another, formed with a specified arrangement, on a part of the non-display part B with no leading wire formed thereon. In the liquid crystal display element, the dummy electrode 30a has a circular pattern. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
