Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the print time by shortening the sub-scanning length of an optical fixing unit. SOLUTION: The fixing unit comprises an LED lamp, and a light guide rod 22. The light guide rod 22 comprises a core member 25, a clad member 26, and a first reflective member 27 provided in a space formed between the core member 25 and the clad member 26 by cutting the circumferential part of the core member 25 partially. Fixing light emitted from the LED lamp advances through the core member before being diffuse reflected on the boundary surface 31 with the first reflective member 27. A part of diffuse reflected light impinges on the clad member 26 at an angle smaller than the critical angle and transmits the clad member 26 to reach the outer part of the light guide rod. A recording sheet being carried on a carrying passage is irradiated with the fixing light and fixed optically. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
