Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitch conversion waveguide array, having little variations in propagation loss among optical waveguides. SOLUTION: This is a pitch conversion waveguide array, of which the pitches Pin, Poutat the beginning and at the end of two or more optical waveguides arranged on a flat surface substrate have the relation Pin< Pout, and the waveguide array is constituted, in such a manner that each of the two or more optical waveguides is formed with a curvature permitting neglecting of its bending loss and all the optical waveguides have the same waveguide length.
