Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume hologram having high lightness of the hologram, capable of increasing diffraction efficiency, ensuring a wide visible area of the hologram and excellent in visibility, and to provide an industrially useful volume hologram recording material for providing the volume hologram. SOLUTION: The volume hologram comprises interference fringes formed by a component (A) and the gap between the interference fringes formed by a component (B) and a component (C), the refractive index difference between the component (A) and component (C) is larger than that between the component (A) and component (B), the component (C) has a refractive index on the component (B) side in magnitude relation with a refractive index of the component (A) and that of the component (B), and the volume hologram has a structure in which the component (C) is phase-separated from the component (B).
