Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a quality improving agent excellent in safety, giving no influence to a metal detector, excellent in oxygen absorbability, high in oxygen absorption speed, both of antibacterial activity and freshness keeping properties by photocatalysis, and suitable for preservation of food and a wide range of other products. SOLUTION: This quality improving agent contains lower-order titanium oxide treated with water or mixed with a water-containing substance, or a lower-order titanium oxide complex containing sulfate groups or a nickel species. The lower-order titanium oxide retains the original crystal structure of titanium dioxide and is represented by the formula: TiO2-x(wherein (x) is a real number of 0.1-0.5) or preferably has the crystal structure of anatase. In addition, water may be added by being sprayed to the lower-order titanium oxide, or by mixing water-impregnated powder of silica, alumina, or the like, with the lower-order titanium oxide.
