PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method of an image processing with which a mask image corresponding to the skin region of the body of a subject can be generated without a trial and error operation. SOLUTION: A melanin component and a hemoglobin component among pigment components which compose the skin color are extracted from an image of a predetermined region of the skin surface of the subject to generate an image which is made of these components and the generated image is converted to be an image which is indicated by a brightness value. Also, the apparatus is equipped with a first means to generate an image by inverting light and darkness of the above image, a second means which extracts the hemoglobin component among the pigment components which compose the skin color from the image of the predetermined region of the surface of the skin of the subject to generate an image and converts the image to an image which is indicated by the brightness value, and a third means which compounds the image generated by the second means and the image generated by the above first means to generate an image.
