PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish compatibility between the convenience of a telephone and the protection of privacy, by comparatively easily installing a system with which a user can receive a telephone call without notifying the own exclusive telephone number with a virtual telephone number as a substitute for the own telephone number. SOLUTION: A telephone terminal generates a freely-controllable virtual telephone number corresponding to an actual telephone number, and a caller is notified of only this virtual telephone number. Although the telephone terminal interprets the virtual telephone number into the actual telephone number, the actual telephone number is not displayed on a display device etc., but only partial attribute information, for example, "stationary telephone in Tokyo 03 area" is displayed. The generation of the virtual telephone number and the interpretation into the corresponding actual telephone number are performed by a built-in program in a server with which the telephone terminal automatically communicates or the telephone terminal itself.
