Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator that reduces stress distortion caused in each component in fixing an optical element and a magnet on a mounting substrate, that has high toughness, rigidity and strength against external stress imparted at the time of mounting external equipment or deformation caused by an external force, and that excels in adhesiveness and workability of each component relative to the mounting substrate. SOLUTION: The optical isolator is constituted by fixing on the mounting substrate two or more polarizers, at least one Faraday rotator and a magnet. The mounting substrate is composed of a first substrate of a brittle material and a second substrate of a plastic material. After the first and second substrates are fixed and integrated, an optical element is fixed on the first substrate, with the magnet fixed on the second substrate, in the structure of the optical isolator.
