Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for periodically supplying breathable gas under inhalation pressure or lower substantially synchronized with breathing of a patient to the patient. SOLUTION: A motor controller 23 receives a signal 36 expressing a flow of breathing and outputs a control signal 24 to control an electric motor 25. A turbine 22 generates required inhalation pressure and exhalation pressure. The controller 23 detects movement from inhalation to exhalation from the signal 36 of a flow to discriminate inhalation and exhalation of a patient. A counter 58 counts time of first duration starting at the last movement to inhalation and, when time of the first duration passes before the movement to exhalation, the controller 23 supplies exhalation pressure. Another counter 62 counts time of second duration starting at the last movement to inhalation and, even when movement to exhalation by the patient exists during second time of the duration, makes the turbine 22 supply inhalation pressure until the second time of the duration elapses.
