Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified polyethylene terephthalate capable of being molded into a blow-molded container suitable for use for filling beverage or other liquids, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: Polyethylene terephthalate (A) and a polymerization promoter (B) are introduced into a mixer and agitation-mixed to give a polymerization promoter-containing polyethylene terephthalate, which is granulated into chips to give the modified polyethylene terephthalate. (A) is polyethylene terephthalate in a molten state discharged from a polymerization reactor where an esterified product of terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol is subjected to a polycondensation reaction in a molten state. (B) is at least one polymerization promoter in a molten state selected from among a trifunctional or higher-functional alcohol, a trifunctional or higher-functional carboxylic acid and a compound represented by formula (1) or (2) (wherein R1and R2are each a 1-20C alkyl group; and Mn+is an n-valent metal cation).
