Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously manufacture cylindrical bodies such as wheel rims by the friction stir welding so that no difference in quality occurs. SOLUTION: After a cylindrical body W2 having a first projecting part 12 and a second projecting part 14 is formed, the cylindrical body W2 is placed on a supporting core 32, the second projecting part 14 is held by a first holding member 138, and the first projecting part 12 is held by a second holding member 168. Cooling water is circulated in advance in the first passage 158 and second passage 160 of a second core member 154 which constitutes the supporting core 32. After the first projecting part 12 and the second projecting part 14 are freed from stacking and end faces thereof are aligned, the outer circumferential wall surface of the cylindrical body W2 is push-stopped by a push-stopping member 204. In this condition, a friction stir welding tool 250 is inserted into a space 210, and the abutted portions of the cylindrical body W2 are subjected to friction stir welding.
