Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly switch a compressed image to which inter-frame compression processing is applied, and to apply image processings to images over a wide range from still images to moving images, to an image of a free format, to an image which does not depend on a transfer rate, or to an image of a scalable format. SOLUTION: A matrix switcher 1 selectively captures a plurality of compressed images, makes a P frame into an I frame within a GOP and changes predictive data of a B frame. A decoder 2 expands the compressed image to restore it into the original image. An input buffer memory 3 converts the image signal into a component signal and converts the transfer rate. An image processing part 4 applies various kinds of image information processings to the image signal. An encoder 5 compresses the image processing signal. An output buffer memory 6 converts the transfer rate of feed data as a compressed image processing signal. A control part 7 controls processes in the matrix switcher 1, the decoder 2, the input buffer memory 3, the image processing part 4, the encoder 5 and the output buffer memory 6.
