Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect corrected data in the case of abnormality of power supply. SOLUTION: A storage controller and a method which are improved in order to store and recover data are disclosed. The storage controller includes first and second clusters for distributing data from a host computer to storage devices. A first cache memory is connected to the first cluster, and a second cache memory is connected to the second cluster. A first protection area of a memory is connected to the first cluster, and a second protection area of the memory is connected to the second cluster. In a normal operation mode, data are distributed to the first cache and backed up in the second protection area. When abnormality of power supply or an equivalent fault occurs, data from the first and second protection areas are transferred to and stored in a first storage device, and data from the first and second protection areas are transferred to and stored in a second storage device.
