Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater requiring a smaller installation space or mass and allowing the reheating of hot water in a bathtub. SOLUTION: The heat pump water heater comprises a heat pump circuit consisting of a compressor, a first heat exchanger for heat exchange between refrigerant discharged from the compressor and water introduced from a water pipe connected to a water supply pipe, a pressure reducer for reducing the pressure of the refrigerant from the first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger provided between the pressure reducer and the compressor, a hot water supply tank for storing hot water heated via the first heat exchanger, a mixing means for mixing the hot water introduced from the water pipe and heated via the first heat exchanger with the hot water stored in the hot water supply tank, and a function for operating the heat pump circuit without using the hot water in the hot water supply tank when filling the bathtub with the hot water to fill the bathtub with the hot water from the first heat exchanger.
