Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion device and method capable of efficiently burning a biomass that is an inexpensive coal alternative fuel without causing a slagging in an industrial boiler or the like. SOLUTION: This combustion device for supplying and burning the biomass 11 in a furnace body 12 comprises a burner 22 for supplying the biomass 11 and fly ash 21 into the furnace. By supplying the fly ash to reduce the ratio of low-melting point ash in the biomass, the average ash property is improved to make the biomass to a high-melting point ash, whereby the slagging by low-melting point particles is prevented. Further, the vicinity of the furnace wall can be made to a high-melting point ash atmosphere by blowing the fly ash or sand to the vicinity of the furnace wall, to drop the adhered low-melting point ash by a friction effect, a collision effect or the like.
