Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of accurately providing an actual adhered amount of fuel and correcting a fuel behavior model based on the actual adhered amount of fuel. SOLUTION: This control device of the internal combustion engine estimates the oxygen occluded amount of catalysts in an exhaust passage by using an intake air amount and a fuel injection amount, and an estimated adhered amount of fuel adhered to the intake air passage is provided by using the fuel behavior model. The control device detects a first timing at which the estimated oxygen occluded amount reaches the maximum oxygen occluded amount and a second timing at which an oxygen concentration sensor on the downstream side of the catalysts indicates an output equivalent to a lean air/fuel ratio when fuel cut is performed. Then, the control device provides the overall amount of the oxygen flowing into the catalysts in a period between the first timing and the second timing, provides the actual adhered amount of fuel based on the overall amount of the oxygen, and corrects the fuel behavior model based on the actual adhered amount of fuel thus obtained and the estimated adhered amount of fuel in starting fuel cut.
