Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect the knee section of an occupant on a rear seat more effectively regardless of a relative position of an airbag module mounted ahead of the rear seat to the occupant on the rear seat. SOLUTION: When it is judged that an impact larger than a prescribed magnitude may be applied to a vehicle from the front side, a controller controls an actuator 17 to adjust the position to a front seat 10 of an airbag module 12 provided on the front seat 10 so that a distance between the airbag module 12 and the knee Pk of the occupant P in the rear seat may be a predetermined one. An actuator 24 for actuating a reaction plate 14 is controlled to tilt backward the reaction plate 14 provided at the back of a backrest 13, thus adjusting the distance between the reaction plate 14 and the knee Pk to a prescribed one.
