Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accommodative handwriting recognition method using user-specific registration data at the minimum level by using a general-purpose feature of a handwritten sample and a user-specific feature. SOLUTION: A characteristic of a handwritten character without having been inputted yet by a user can rapidly be recognized by using a handwriting feature of of a particular user by allowing a general-purpose classifier and a user-specific classifier to easily execute a recognition process. Thereby, the user can recognize a new character without needing to input a character as registration, that is, training data for the first time. In one embodiment of this application, the general-purpose feature can be processed by the general-purpose classifier trained about a plurality of users. In another embodiment of the application, classification by the general-purpose classifier is corrected as required by using the user-specific classifier in order to provide user-specific handwriting recognition.
