PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small animal-rearing cage, capable of rearing the small animals hygienically and without especially requiring the supplement of bedding for breeding even in the case of breeding the small animals, the bedding for the rearing cage for the small animals and a method for rearing the small animals. SOLUTION: A plurality of mice 10 are reared in a state of mixing males and females in the rearing cage 11 in which the bedding 15 of a sheet state equipped with softness and flexibility is laid in a box type case 12. The bedding is flexible, meanders and overlaps, and forms tucks 16 having a size large enough to conceal the half bodies of the mice 10 and laid as rounded at random in the box type case body 12. Since the tucks 16 formed by the bedding 15 prevent feces excreted by the mice 10 from scattering by the movements of the mice 10 through whole of the cage 11, and is served as a bed 17 in which the mice 10 can conceal themselves and a place 19 for childbirth and nursing, there is no need to especially supplement the bedding for breeding when breeding the mice 10.
