Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch, having a simpler structure than a switch using a PTC element, and demonstrating stable operational characteristics at a certain temperature. SOLUTION: The thermally-actuated switch comprises an insulation member of crystalline polymer (B), and a member of conductive material (C) which are held between a pair of electrodes (A). The crystalline polymer causes a transition in a solid status to cause the coefficient of cubical expansion in a transition temperature range to increase higher than the coefficient of thermal expansion outside of the transition temperature range. Based on such characteristics, the thermally-actuated switch opens/closes the electrical connection of the pair of electrodes in the transition temperature range. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
