Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable quality and yield to be stably improved and increased in the production of mushroom. SOLUTION: Peat moss is used as a part or the whole of a culture base material, and existing nutrients are mixed therewith. The water content and the pH of the mixed product are regulated and the resultant product is subjected to a series of working steps. As a result, the spawn medium and the culture medium of the saprophyte exhibit the same or superior physical condition and chemical condition as or than those of an existing corncob or large sawdust medium because of the peat moss.
