Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a looseness monitoring device in which the looseness can be surely detected to promptly inform a supervisor of the fact when looseness exceeding an allowable value is generated on a belt or the like in a power transmission mechanism, breakage or the like of power equipment can be prevented to improve safety, and an application means is simple for easy implementation. SOLUTION: The looseness monitoring device monitors the looseness of the belt 16 during the operation of the power transmission mechanism connecting a driving shaft 11 and a driven shaft 13 with the belt 16. The device is provided with a detecting means 18 for detecting displacement arranged in a side face side toward which the belt 16 is displaced from a normal position due to tension fluctuation of the belt 16 when the looseness is generated on the belt 16 and an output means 19 for informing and outputting to an outside when the displacement detected by the detecting means exceeds a preset allowable range for the looseness.
