Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery which has a paste type negative electrode plate and can prevent a battery capacity from decreasing in low-temperature high-rate discharging. SOLUTION: When negative electrode plates 20 are wound into a spiral electrode body, an active material density of both-side facing parts 20a of a negative electrode plate 20, the both main surfaces of which face positive electrode plates 10 respectively, is set to a value lower than an active material density of a one-side facing part 20b of a negative electrode plate 20, only one main surface of which faces a positive electrode plate 10. This makes the amount of an electrolyte increased with which the both-side facing parts 20a mainly contributing to the reaction in low-temperature high-rate discharging are impregnated. Thus, the sealed battery can keep the reaction high in low-temperature high-rate discharging, and can derive the maximum of the battery capacity. Furthermore, the sealed battery can prevent the battery capacity of one-side facing part with a high active material density from decreasing in room-temperature low-rate discharging.
