Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the thickness of a color filter layer in a light transmission part unchanged, in a liquid crystal display wherein it is difficult to uniformly form the thicknesses of the color filter layer in the light transmission part and in a reflection part. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display 1 has a pixel electrode 13 provided on one substrate 10, the color filter layer 50 provided on the other substrate 20 so as to be opposed to the pixel electrode 13, and a liquid crystal 30 filled between the both substrates. The pixel electrode 13 on the one substrate 10 has the light transmission part 16 and the reflection part 17 in one pixel and a light transmission layer 52 is layered on the part 51 of the color filter layer corresponding to the reflection part 17 of the pixel electrode 13 and a thickness maintaining means 54 is provided at the part 53 of the color filter layer corresponding to the light transmission layer 16 of the pixel electrode 13 in the color filter layer 50 of the other substrate.
