Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a drum by which, when surface treatment such as alumite processing is carried out after assembling a drum, time for putting the drum in a treatment tank and time for taking out the tank from the treatment tank can be shortened and the surface treatment can be efficiently carried out, and to provide a drum. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a drum, a drum 10 obtained by attaching side pieces 12, 13 in which a plurality of holes 16, 17 have been bored to both side faces of a cylindrical body 11 and by carrying out machining is put in a treatment liquid tank for a surface treatment and then pulled up from the treatment liquid tank. Since a treatment liquid flows easily into the hollow drum through the plurality of holes provided on both side faces of the drum, and after the treatment, the treatment liquid is easily discharged from the drum, the surface treatment of the drum can be efficiently carried out.
