Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulking agent for liquid chromatography having retention force enough to separate fullerens even when using toluene as a mobile phase solvent, and different in selectivity for the fullerens, in particular, metal inclusion fullerens, compared with a known bulking agent. SOLUTION: This bulking agent for the liquid chromatography is constituted of a porous carrier chemical-bonded with a nitrogen-containing polycyclic aromatic functional group having three or more of condensed rings containing a heterocycle having at least one nitrogen atom, and the fullerens and the metal inclusion fullerens are separated by the liquid chromatography using the bulking agent. A stationary phase having the nitrogen-containing polycyclic aromatic functional group is formed on the porous carrier, by making a silylation agent with a hydroxyl group on a surface of the porous carrier, using the silylation agent having the nitrogen-containing polycyclic aromatic functional group, and the objective bulking agent is manufactured thereby.
