Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decontamination method and a device for a tritium-contaminated metal having safety, simplicity, easy-handleability necessary for removing solution tritium. SOLUTION: A metal material including tritium is stored in a hot air furnace 10 for generating temperature-controllable circulating hot air. Firstly, tritium adhering to/adsorbed on the material surface is purged by heating it with the hot air below 200°C. Secondly, the solution tritium is purged to recovery tritium by heating it with the hot air raised from 200 to 600°C and keeping the state. After elapse of a sufficient release time, the hot air furnace 10 is cooled down to 100°C or below to release tritium, and the metal material having the internal tritium concentration lowered to a safe level is taken out.
