Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a styrene derivative. SOLUTION: This method for producing the styrene derivative represented by formula (7) (R1, R2and R3are each independently a 1 to 26C alkyl or the like; R4, R5and R6are each independently H or the like; W is H or the like) comprises reacting a dihalo-diene compound represented by formula (1) (X1and X2are each Cl or the like) with an ate complex represented by the formula: Rm(RL)2MgLi (Rmand RLare each independently a 1 to 6C alkyl or the like), reacting the product (only X2is selectively replaced by magnesium) with an unsaturated aldehyde represented by formula (10), and then subjecting the reaction product to a cyclization reaction and further to a dehydrogenation reaction or a dehydration reaction.
