PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the display of the correct position of a control rod when an abnormality has occurred in a control rod position display system as to the display of the position of the control rod of a reactor. SOLUTION: A display apparatus for the position of the control rod has a control rod drive circuit 8a for manipulating the control rod 2 of the reactor 1, a unit 4 for controlling the hydraulic pressure of the control rod 2, a probe 3 for detecting the position of the control rod 2 and a control rod position detecting circuit 7a and transmits a detection signal of the position of the control rod 2 as an indication signal of the position of the control rod 2 (a position detection probe) to a control rod manipulation/monitoring panel 9a to display the position of the control rod 2. Moreover, a circuit 8b for detecting the position of the control rod 2 through the drive of it which calculates the position of it on the basis of a manipulated variable 5 for driving it and a circuit 10 for switching a control rod position signal are provided to display the position of the control rod 2 by switching to a control rod position (calculation) display signal 13 calculated by the circuit 8b for detecting the position of the control rod 2 through the drive of it by way of a signal switching means 10 in the event of any failure in displaying the position in the control rod position detecting circuit 7a.
