Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head and a thermal printer of high performance which can form good prints with less density unevenness and less distortion, and can meet high-speed recording. SOLUTION: The thermal head has on an upper face of a substrate 1, a plurality of heating resistors 3 arranged in a main scanning direction, a band-shaped common electrode 4 connected in common to one end side of each heating resistor 3 and set along the arrangement of the heating resistors 3, and discrete electrodes 5 separately connected to the other end side of each heating resistor 3. An annealing process is carried out to the heating resistors 3 in accordance with a voltage drop brought about at the common electrode 4 so as to make heating values of the heating resistors 3 nearly equal to each other at the time of heating of all the heating resistors 3.
