Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sodium-sulfur battery which is suitable for an electric power storage device and an electric automobile or the like, and in which improvements in battery efficiency and large capacity are compatible. SOLUTION: In this sodium-sulfur battery, a negative electrode chamber to house sodium is installed inside a solid electrolyte bag tube, a positive electrode chamber to house a positive electrode active material composed of sulfur or/and sodium polysulfide is installed outside the solid electrolyte bag tube, and a porous conductive material or/and porous material is filled in a gap between a current collector installed outside the solid electrolyte bag tube inside the positive electrode chamber and a trunk of the solid electrolyte bag tube. The solid electrolyte bag tube is laid in a horizontal direction or in a tilting direction, and the wall thickness of a cross-sectional lower part perpendicular to the axial direction of a positive electrode container constituting the positive electrode chamber is made larger than that of a cross-sectional upper part or/and a cross-sectional lateral part.
