PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize a frame of a read target in an image reader to read a transparent original provided with a reading area corresponding to the number of frames for a half of the number of frames of one strip film. SOLUTION: This film holder has a strip film holder mechanism provided at a position where half frames of frames of one strip film are included in a reading area when one corner part of the film holder is made to coincide with a corner part of an original platen with the same position relation and more frames than the half frames of the strip film are included in the reading area when a corner part opposite from the corner part of the film holder in the direction of a vertical side is made to coincide with a corner part opposite from the corner part of the original platen in the direction of a horizontal side, and an identification hole provided at a position which is near the strip film holder mechanism and is included in the reading area when the one corner part of the film holder is made to coincide with the corner part of the original platen of the image reader with the same position relation.
