Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to properly set a restart time of an engine in an automatic stop condition corresponding to an operation of a cellular phone by a driver. SOLUTION: An engine controller of a vehicle is provided with an engine control means 1 for automatically stopping the engine when a predetermined automatic stop condition holds, and for controlling the automatic restart of the engine when a predetermined automatic restart condition holds during the automatic stop of the engine. There is provided with a cellular phone operation distinguishing means 2 for distinguishing whether or not a driver is operating a cellular phone. When it is distinguished with the cellular phone operation distinguishing means 2 that the cellular phone is in operation, a restart prohibiting means 8 for prohibiting the restart of the engine is set in the engine control means 1.
