Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute a load imposed on access points in a wireless LAN system. SOLUTION: When receiving a connection request of a terminal 4a via a first access point 3a, an authentication apparatus 1 discriminates whether or not a load of the first access point 3a is heavier than a prescribed criterion. When the load is heavier than the prescribed criterion, the authentication apparatus 1 instructs the terminal 4a to switch a connection destination to a second access point 3b connectable from the terminal 4a and to try the connection again in order to relieve the load of the first access point 3a.
