PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for a side collision which can complete expansion of the airbag while minimizing protrusion toward an occupant and can surely protect the occupant. SOLUTION: A position around a rear end at the time of the completion of expansion of an airbag 15 is a fixed point FP positioned relatively to a seat 1. In the airbag 15, the length of the film from the fixed point FP in an occupant side wall part 20 to a position around the front end is set to a value smaller than the length of the film from the fixed point FP in a car body side wall part 21 to a position around the front end. A tether 23 for connecting a position around the fixed point FP to a position around a site of connection between the occupant side wall part 20 and the car body side wall part 21 is provided between an inflator 11 within the airbag 15 and the car body side wall part 21 along the longitudinal direction. The length of the tether 23 is set so as to be substantially identical to the length of the film of the occupant side wall part 20 at the time of the completion of the expansion of the airbag 15.
