Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive waste sorter capable of sorting efficiently the waste wherein all sorts of articles which are different in a radiation dose rate, the quality of material, the shape and the size are jointed together into respective articles having a high or low radiation dose rate, or into combustibles and noncombustibles. SOLUTION: A waste mixture is sorted respectively into extremely small, small, medium and large articles by a vibrating screen 1. The extremely small articles are stored in a combustible container 5. The small articles are sorted into metals and combustibles by a color difference sorter 2, and the combustibles are stored in the combustible container 5 and the metals are stored in a noncombustible container 7. The medium articles are sorted into metals and combustibles by a dose rate sorter 32, and the combustibles are stored in the combustible container 5 and the metals are stored in a noncombustible container 6. The large articles are sorted into metals and combustibles by an image recognition sorter 4, and the combustibles are stored in the combustible container 5 and the metals are stored in the noncombustible container 7. Resultantly, the combustibles are stored in the combustible container 5, and the metals having a high dose rate are stored in the noncombustible container 6, and the metals having a low dose rate are stored in the noncombustible container 7.
