Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide soil for roof greening use having light weight and sufficient draining performance. SOLUTION: The roof greening facility 100 is composed of a root-proof sheet 40 laid on the surface of a concrete floor 50 of the roof, a draining base material 30 placed as a draining layer on the sheet, a separator 20 laid on the draining base material 30 and SHIRASU soil (a kind of volcanic ash) 10 formed on the separator as a soil layer. Plants 60 are planted on the SHIRASU soil 10. The SHIRASU soil is preferably composed mainly of SHIRASU (or SHIRASU impregnated with a functional organic material). Preferably, the soil contains ≥40 wt.% SHIRASU and is compounded with KANUMA soil (a kind of soil for horticulture), bark compost, charcoal, etc., as the components other than SHIRASU.
