Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a sensor head without reducing the resolution in a depth direction of a bevel, and to measure the characteristic amounts of the bevel shape without being influenced by disturbance caused by spatters and fumes. SOLUTION: Slit light outgoing from a laser projecting device 10 is deflected at a fixed angle by a plane reflecting mirror 12 and is applied to the surface including a bevel of a base metal 7 at a fixed incident angle; the reflection of the slit light applied to the base metal is made incident on a photographing device 11; the laser projecting device 10 and the photographing device 11 are provided parallel inside housing 13; and the sensor head 5 is miniaturized. The miniaturized sensor head 5 is arranged in the vicinity of a welding torch 4, and the welding torch 4 is controlled to a high precision following the bevel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
