Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a long-life contact type electrifying member. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with the contact type electrifying member (CB) having a rotary conductive support shaft (1) and a semiconductive elastic member (2) supported by the support shaft (1), and having several contact parts (2a) successively coming into contact with the surface of a 1st image carrier (photoreceptor)(PR) when the support shaft (1) is rotated by a prescribed angle. By rotating the contact type electrifying member (CB) by a prescribed angle, the unused contact part (2a) is brought into contact with the 1st image carrier (PR), then, the electrified 1st image carrier (PR) can be electrified.
