Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method for uniformly forming a treatment film superior in corrosion-preventive properties, on an automotive body at least one part of which is assembled from a high-tensile steel sheet. SOLUTION: The method for surface-treating the automotive body comprises degreasing, cleaning and surface conditioning the automotive body at least one part of which is assembled from the high-tensile steel sheet, as needed; then subjecting it to a zinc phosphate treatment; and subsequently subjecting it to a treatment using a titanium-based metal surface-treatment agent containing (A) a titanium-containing solution obtained by mixing at least one titanium compound selected from the group consisting of a hydrolytic titanium compound, a low condensate of the hydrolytic titanium compound, titanium hydroxide and a low condensate of the titanium hydroxide, with oxygenated water, and (B) at least one compound selected among an organic acid, salts of an organic acid, a metal acid fluoride, metal salts of hydrofluoric acid, an organic basic compound and ammonia.
