Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means which reduces the amount of memory for temporary saving since it is necessary to store the data on the area becoming a subject of movement in the memory when slip processing from a data area to an alternation area although data areas and alternation areas are arranged alternatively on a disk in an audio and video disk device. SOLUTION: In this disk device, when a defective sector is detected in the first half of a readout range, blocks from the leading sector of readout data to the defective sector are moved to an alternation area ahead of a data area via the memory for temporary saving. In this case, the amount of the memory for temporary saving can be reduced as compared with the conventional system which uses only a back alternation area by using a control method which changes a direction to which blocks are to be slipped in response to the occurrence position of the failure sector.
